Equity index futures point in different directions currently ahead of Fed chair Powell’s Senate testimony on pandemic relief measures scheduled for 16:00 CET today while Treasury yields rise. Alphabet shares lost 0.8% underperforming market after news Google planned to reduce the amount it keeps from sales as customers buy software from other vendors on its Cloud marketplace from 20% to 3%, Microsoft shares fell 1.73% on Monday.

Forex news

The Dollar strengthening continues currently . The live dollar index data show the ICE US Dollar index, a measure of the dollar’s strength against a basket of six rival currencies, added 0.1% on Monday as US Census Bureau reported new orders for durable goods exceeded expectations, gaining 1.8% over month in August.

EUR/USD continued retreating Monday while GBP/USD reversed its sliding. Both Pound and Euro are lower against the Dollar currently. AUD/USD joined USD/JPY’s continued advancing Monday with both the Australian dollar and yen lower against the Greenback currently.

Stock Market news

Futures on three main US stock indexes are up while US 10-year Treasury yields inched up to 1.151% currently. The three major Wall Street stock benchmarks ended mixed Monday while Treasury prices declined, recording daily returns in the range of -0.52% to +0.21%.

European stock indexes are down currently after ending mixed Monday with tech shares leading losses. Asian indexes are mixed today with Hong Kong’s Heng Seng Index leading gains after the People’s Bank of China said Monday that it would "safeguard the legitimate rights of housing consumers" as China Evergrande Group did not meet a deadline to make an interest payment to offshore bond holders last Friday and has 30 days to make the payment before it falls into default.

Commodity Market news

Brent is edging higher currently ahead of data from the American Petroleum Institute later today. Prices closed solidly higher Monday as Goldman Sachs raised its year-end forecast for Brent crude by $10 a barrel to $90 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate WTI rose 2% and is higher currently. Brent gained 1.8% to $79.47 a barrel on Monday.

Gold Market News

Gold prices are edging lower currently. December gold added 0.017% to $1752.0 an ounce on Monday.
