Freeport-McMoRan is an American mining company that extracts copper, gold, molybdenum and oil. It is the largest molybdenum producer and the second largest copper producer in the world. The company operates the largest deposits in the Americas (Morenci, Sierrita, Safford Mine, Cerro Verde, etc.) and Indonesia (Grasberg) with significant proven and forecasted reserves of copper, gold and molybdenum. The company employs more than 30,000 people. The stocks of Freeport-McMoRan are traded on the New York Stock Exchange and are included in the list of the companies in S&P 500 index.
